This movie was based on a novel of the same title written by S.E. "The Outsiders" was released in 1983, and starred Tom Cruise, Rob Lowe, Patrick Swayze, Matt Dillon, Ralph Macchio, C. When the church catches on fire and small children are inside, the two boys show us what being true heros means. With help from their friend Dally, (Dillon) the boys hide out in an abandoned church. Johnny kills Bob (the leader) in self defense, but the boys are afraid of going to jail and getting split up. Ponyboy (Howell) and Johnny Cade (Macchio) are in the wrong place at the wrong time, when a group of Socs spot them alone in the park. You ought to see my house." The Greasers (the tough poor kids) and the Socs (the angry rich kids) are from two different sides of town. We all need to see this film, if not for the social commentary, at least for the fart jokes.Ponyboy Curtis tells this to his buddy Keith 'Two-Bit' Mathews in reply to Two-Bit's previous statement, "Shoot, this house ain't dirty. I don't know what to say about the "made for conspiracy theory" behavior of Fox in releasing this film, but if it's not playing in your local theater, demand it. Note the times in the film when Joe and Rita almost subconsciously conform to the idiots around them, and you realize that Idiocracy is not created to pick on any group of people in particular, but on the culture of idiocy in general. If youre a fan of quotes, then you have come to the right place: we have over 400 quizzes on thousands of quotes from thousands of movies Youll have so much fun that YOULL BE BAHCK 546 Movie Quotes quizzes and 7,644 Movie Quotes trivia questions. The subtle brilliance in the film lies in the fact that it also digs at "smart" people, and average Joes like the protagonists. If there is one thing that tends to stick in our brains like spackle, it is movie quotes. My personal favorite is the depiction of Fox News. The real humor of the film lies in the many sight gags and attitudes present in this future society that are just a shade off of what we encounter in our daily lives, and which should serve as a warning. There are certainly fart jokes etc., but they're not really intended to be funny to the audience - they exist to define the state of "culture" in the world of 2500 AD visited by Joe, as a background to the bizarre state of affairs in which he awakes. To criticize this film as too puerile due to potty humor is to kind of miss the point, I think. As social satire, Idiocracy is just as good as Office Space, but with a wider scope.
